California Post is not a newspaper; it's a narrative change tool

I don't mean that California Post reporters aren't actual reporters or that there is not a real-life paper version. What I mean is that the California edition of the Post is working to change the narrative in this blue state in preparation for the midterms and, beyond that, the 2028 presidential election.

Even though it's unlikely to have any real effect in the short term, it's difficult to argue that there isn't a strategy here to change the local and national perceptions of Democratic-led government in the state.

Is it any surprise that the Calfornia Post appeared at the same time that advocates and lawmakers have backed new taxes on the wealthy? Perhaps rightwing cultural hawks have determined that they've had enough of leaving the state to chart its own path or for Hollywood to pollute cultue with its hedonistic images and ideas. Who knows? The New York Post has never made that much money, and I doubt that the California Post will either. But that's not the point.

Reining in California poitics and culture would be major wins for Murdoch and co.
